You may need to alter your route a little – for 2015 the Central London bit no longer goes along the Embankment due to the cycle super-highway roadworks taking place (ironic, eh!).
After passing the Tower of London you now turn right down Great Tower Street, then go down Eastcheap and Cannon Street, turn right at St. Paul’s along New Change and left onto Newgate Street. After passing Holborn Viaduct, turn left on to Fetter Lane, right onto the Strand and then follow this to Trafalgar Square where you resume the 2013/4 routes.
Thanks for pointing out the slight course changes though central London…. Course has been amended with the updates due to the road works on Victoria Embankment.

Only just discovered your blog and wish I had found it a lot sooner – having gone through your old posts, it’s a great resource for someone like me doing their first RideLondon this year (just 6 days to go!) and interesting to see your previous experiences of the day itself. Funny enough I’m raising money for Mind like you did on your first ride!

Yup – entered on the first day the 2016 ballot went live! Partially because I only got to do 92 miles due to the Leith Hill diversion (such sad news about that guy), so feel I HAVE to go back and do the full 100, but mainly cause it was just such a fantastic experience and I’m now addicted to closed road cycling (also entered the Tour of Cambs for next year for the first time).

have you by chance updated the route file for the 2016 route on Sunday? it looks quite different from previous years on the run back from Surrey.

They modified the route last year to go via Oxshott not Cobham. as far as I can tell the route is the same as last year except.. the bit through embankment will probably be a bit different as the roadworks are now complete. (I have updated the Garmin connect course and removed last years diversion)
